Fine Jewelry Appraisal Services

Families and Individuals

Our clients appreciate the privacy of meeting in an office setting, where their family heirlooms or personal jewelry is examined in their presence. During an office appointment, measurements, notes, photographs and sketches are taken while you wait. Once all of the necessary information is gathered, an appraisal (valuation document) is put together and depending on its complexity, handed to you directly or mailed to you. All appraisal documents meet legal, industry and insurance requirements.

Professional Services

Insurance, Legal and Financial Professionals requiring valuation services are our speciality. We are delighted to meet with you and your clients at our offices or yours. We have a state-of-the-art mobile gem lab that will allow us to come to you to evaluate the fine jewelry in question and provide the necessary valuations in a convenient, straightforward way, allowing you to provide the best service for your clients.

When settling an estate or managing inherited jewelry, clear documentation is essential. We provide comprehensive and complete inventories to help families, attorneys, and executors make fair, informed decisions with transparency and trust.

Personal Collection Inventories

Our most unique offering – we evaluate and catalog your personal collection so that you can keep track of what you own in one organized file with high resolution photos. This documentation is vital in instances of loss or theft.

Keep in mind that travelers are often asked at airport customs if the fine jewelry they are wearing was purchased while abroad for taxation purposes. Having a detailed inventory and/or appraisal documents with you can prove to customs agents that you did not make the purchase recently.

Virtual Consultations

Virtual, or on-line consultations are a great way to start the discovery process. Schedule a time convenient to you to ask questions about your heirloom or something in your personal collection.

We'll talk about your fine jewelry, identify era and nature of the items, to the extent possible without handling the piece. We can discuss relative resale values, whether a GIA report is recommended, and the best spots to sell your piece(s) if that is your objective. After 20 years in the business, Your Jewelry Appraiser has a significant network of dealers to connect you with at no additional charge.

To schedule a 15, 30 or 45 minute Virtual Consultation via Zoom, please call 571-471-3600.

Obtain an Official GIA Report on Your Diamond or Gemstone Jewelry

If you are interested in having your diamonds and gemstones evaluated by the most trusted gem lab in the country, we’ll ship your items to the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) for you.

Ascertaining your stone’s origin (is it a Kashmir or Ceylon Sapphire?) or treatment (is the stone heated, unheated, or dyed?) are things only a lab of GIA’s stature can provide.

Would you like a full GIA report on a gemstone? We can facilitate getting your reports easily and securely.
